Which is Better: Web Directory or Search Engine?

If your topic is broad and general, use a web directory.

If your topic is narrow or specific, use a search engine  (try "Advanced Search" or "Help" for better searching options).

No single search engine or web directory covers the entire web .
If one web tool doesn't have the information, use another one.

Look for the web tool
that seems to match
your need.

If you're having a really hard time finding anything for your topic on the internet, you may want to look in books or subscription databases.

And remember you can always ask your school librarian for help in finding information that you need.
