Overview
Microsoft Outlook offers the ability to subscribe to multiple Internet Calendar (iCalendar) feeds, which provide continuously updated event streams via the Webcal protocol. Many calendars are accessible as iCalendar feeds, including Google calendars and all of the calendars and schedules on WhippleHill Podium. These instructions describe how to add popular WhippleHill Podium iCalendar feeds to Microsoft Outlook 2010.
Procedure
Open Microsoft Outlook & the Panther Portal
- Launch Microsoft Outlook 2010
(Open )
- Click on the Calendar icon in the bottom left of the navigation pane
- In a Web browser, navigate to the LFCDS Panther Portal
(Open )
- Enter your username and password in the SIGN IN fields on the left pane
- Click Sign In
To Add Your Academic (or Advisory) Schedule
- Click on in the left navigation pane of the Panther Portal
- In the Feeds box on the right, click on the green RSS feed button (
) next to My Academics (or My Advisory)
- Copy the Webcal URL:
- Under Schedule, triple-click on Webcal URL field to select the contents
- Right-click on the selection and select
- Switch back to Outlook calendar window
- On the Home tab of the ribbon, select
- Paste the Webcal URL:
- Right-click in the entry field New Internet Calendar Subscription dialog box and select
- Click OK
- Click Advanced…
- Replace the folder name iCal with the a descriptive name such as "Academic Schedule" or "Advisory Schedule"
- Click OK
- Click Yes
To Add a Customized LFCDS Calendar
- Click on in the left navigation pane of the Panther Portal
- Click on Show Filter Options under Filter Results By
- Check all of the categories of events you wish to have appear on your Outlook iCalendar subscription.
- Use the Check All | Uncheck All links to speed selection
- My Academics includes the cycle days, so do not select both My Academics and Cycle Days
- Click Apply Filter
- Click on the green RSS feed button (
)
- Copy the Webcal URL:
- Under iCal, triple-click on Webcal URL field to select the contents
- Right-click on the selection and select
- Switch back to Outlook calendar window
- On the Home tab of the ribbon, select
- Paste the Webcal URL:
- Right-click in the entry field New Internet Calendar Subscription dialog box and select
- Click OK
- Click Advanced… >
- Replace the folder name iCal with the a descriptive name such as "My LFCDS Calendar"
- Click OK
- Click Yes
