Freezing The Projector Image

Freezing The Projector Image

What does it mean to "Freeze the image"?

Did you know that when using the ceiling mounted Epson 835p projectors that are located in most classrooms you can freeze what is currently being displayed on your projector? This feature allows you to keep the current image projected while you continue to do work on your laptop. Freezing the image will still allow any computer audio to continue playing, but will prevent any screen updates on your computer from replacing the currently displayed screen on the projector.

Why would I want to freeze the image?

There are a few situations where freezing the image on your projector can come in handy. Freeze the image if you'd like to:

  • Display one set of instructions or information for your students while you cue up the next screen of information
  • Take attendance in WhippleHill Podium while displaying instructions or resources for students
  • Prevent the automatic screen locking from hiding what is on the screen

How do I freeze the image?

Use the following steps to freeze the screen with whatever information is necessary:

  1. Cue up the web page, picture, PowerPoint slide, or document that you'd like to have on the screen for an extended period of time.
  2. Using your remote, press the Freeze button (see below picture).
  3. Continue to use your laptop screen for any function you would like while the frozen image remains on the projector screen.

How do I resume from the frozen image?

Simply press the Freeze button on the projector remote again to resume action on the projector screen.

Can this damage the projector?

Freezing the image itself will do no damage to your projector. However, leaving the projector on for long periods of time frozen on the image will wear on the lamp the same as having it on for a long time during normal operation. Please do not leave the projector on for extended periods of time if you are not using it.
