Apple iTunes
Apple iTunes
Overview
Apple iTunes is an "Unsupported but allowed" application for LFCDS employees. School employees may request installation of iTunes for work-related reasons with the understanding that support in using it and troubleshooting problems will be limited..
iTunes is Apple's digital media player application for playing and organizing digital music and video files. The program is also an interface to manage the music on Apple's popular iPod digital audio player. Additionally, iTunes can connect to the iTunes Music Store (sometimes referred to as "iTMS") which allows users to purchase digital music and movie files that can be played by iPods and iTunes.
Known Issues
- Issue: iTunes by default stores music in your My Documents\My Music folder. This conflicts with the guidelines provided by the Electronic Document Filing Guidelines since large personal media should be not be stored in a user's My Documents folder, but on their local hard drive. All computers provided to employees already have a folder called @Personal for personal files that do not need to be backed up.
- Solution: Change the location where iTunes stores your music files.
- Procedure:
- In iTunes, go to Edit->Preferences...
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Change the iTunes Music folder location by clicking the Change button
- Select the C:\@Personal\Personal Music folder
- Click OK when you've selected the location you want your music to be stored
- Click OK to exit iTunes Preferences
