Skype
Overview
Skype (pronounced /ˈskaɪp/) is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free, while calls to both traditional landline telephones and mobile phones can be made for a fee using a debit-based user account system. Skype has also become popular for its additional features which include instant messaging, file transfer, and video conferencing.
Configuring Speakers & Microphone
By default, Skype may not be configured to use the microphone or speakers you want to use. For example, when running on mobile computers, Skype may default to using the headphone & microphone jack(s). To specify which speakers and microphone to use, follow the directions below.
- Open the Skype application and sign in using your Skype Name and Password.
- Select from the menu.
- From the left-side navigation area, click Audio Settings.

- From the Microphone dropdown selector, select the audio input device you want to use.
Tip: The microphone built into the display bezel of the HP EliteBook Tablet PCs is the "Integrated Microphone Array."
- From the Speakers dropdown selector, select the audio output device you want to use.
- Click the Save button.
