MultiTech FaxFinder Fax Server (Network Fax)
Overview
LFCDS has installed a network fax server that allows you to receive via e-mail documents faxed to your direct LFCDS telephone number.
Note: Do not reply to the emailed faxes that come from "FaxFinder" since those will go to the IT Department. If you need to respond to the sender of the facsimile, either call them or send an email to their actual email address.
How It Works
- Someone sends a fax to your direct-dial telephone number (847-615-6xxx).
- Your phone will ring. To receive the fax you have 3 options:
- Don’t answer it and let it ring through.
- Press the “To VM” softbutton on your phone to instantly send it to the fax server.
- Answer the call. You may hear some beeping and after a couple seconds the call will automatically transfer to the fax server. After this happens you may hang up the phone.
- Wait for the remote fax to finish transmitting all pages.
- An e-mail will appear in your mailbox from the fax server with the faxed document as an attached PDF file that will open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Important Note – Always Dial 8 When Sending Outgoing Faxes: With this new setup faxes can also be received internally by dialing the 3 digit extension. Because of this it is essential that you remember to dial 8 when sending outgoing faxes from one of the school’s fax machines (with the exception of the GB-216 Upper Green Bay Workroom MFP since it automatically inserts the 8 prefix when dialing out). If you forget to dial 8, the fax machine will call the internal extension corresponding to the first 3 digits in the phone number including the “1” dialing code prefix. For example, if you try sending a fax to a 1-312-xxx-xxxx number without first dialing 8, you will instead send a fax to extension 131. In the past when this would happen you would receive a transmission error because the fax machine would only reach the owner of the internal extension or their voice mail, not another fax machine. However, the new fax server will now receive the fax for that extension and the sending fax machine will indicate that the fax has gone through successfully. Unfortunately, instead of reaching your intended recipient, your fax will be e-mailed to the owner of that 3 digit extension.
