Overview

Web Sites

LakeForest Country Day School maintains a variety of World Wide Web presences:

·The LFCDS.org public Web site for general information and marketing to prospective families

·The Panther Portal password-protected community LFCDS.net site for students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.

·Pages/newsfeeds on such social media sites as Facebook and Twitter.

Material appropriate for placement on Lake Forest Country Day School official and relatedWeb sites include information about: the School, department activities or services, teachers, classes, students, alumni, class projects, student organizations, relevant local community news, and other items of interest to members of the Lake Forest Country Day School community.

Responsibility

The Communications Department holds responsibility for:

·Publishing all Webpages on the www.LFCDS.org Web site

·Assisting the content management groups in publishing to www.LFCDS.net pages

·Ensuring adherence to this policy across all LFCDS official Web content

·Social media placements

·Ensuring adherence to this policy across all social media content

The Information Technology department holds responsibility for:

·Troubleshooting technical problems accessing or using any LFCDS Website

·Providing user technical support in accessing any LFCDS Website

·Systems administration related to any LFCDS hosted Website

·Vendor coordination related to any LFCDS hosted Website

Purpose

This policy exists to protect the School and its students. In particular, thispolicy seeks to protect LFCDS students and other community members from the potential threat of any ‘on-line stalker’ by regulating the association of identifying information with photographs. Secondly, this policy seeks to preserve and enhance the reputation and continued viability of Lake Forest Country Day School by providing guidance on appropriate content.

Guidelines

General

All content published to any Lake Forest Country Day School Web site must:

·Reflect organizational goals. All pages should clearly demonstrate a connection to educational projects, school activities, the LFCDS educational community, or other LFCDS organizational goals.

·Enhance the marketability of Lake Forest Country Day School orsupport the mission of the school.

·Reflect positively on the institution, its present and past students, parents, faculty, and staff.

·Link only to other Web sites containing appropriate content reflecting positively on the institution, its present and past students, parents, faculty, and staff.

·Associate only student first names on the www.LFCDS.org and www.LFCDS.net sites. Additional identifying information that is permissible includes: Grade level, teacher names and/or homeroom, subject matter shown in the photo, athletic identification by numbers, activity descriptions, dates, and locations.

·Associate no names (first or last) or other personal identifying information or contact information with images of students. Identifying information that is permissible includes: Grade level, subject matter shown in the photo, athletic identification by numbers, activity descriptions, dates, and locations.

·Include images of parents, alumni, faculty, or staff only when said person has granted verbal or written permission.

·Comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international laws concerning copyright, intellectual property rights, and legal uses of networked computers.

·Comply with relevant school policies, administrative rules, the LFCDS Responsible Use Policy, and the LFCDS Honor Code.

·Include a statement of copyright when appropriate and indicate that permission has been secured when including copyrighted materials.

·Include only accurate, verifiable information.

·Be presented in a visually appealing and professional manner consistent with other Lake Forest Country Day School marketing materials.

·Be written with correct grammar and spelling.

·Be written for clarity and readability.

·Have operational hyperlinks.

Public Web Site (http://www.LFCDS.org/)

Lake Forest Country Day School maintains a public Web sitefor the purpose of marketing the school. The Communications Department is responsible for all content on the public Web site. All submissions for publication on the Web site should be sent to the Communications and Design Specialist. Anyone submitting material acknowledges (1) grant to LFCDS of a non-exclusive right to publish such material, in electronic and printed forms, and (2) agreement to indemnify and hold LFCDS and its affiliates, officers, directors,agents or other partners and employees harmless from any claim or demand including attorneys’ fees made by any third party due to or arising out of submitted content.

Panther Portal (http://PantherPortal.LFCDS.org/ or http://www.LFCDS.net/)

Lake Forest Country Day School maintains a password-protected Panther Portal Web site specifically for current students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni. LFCDS Administration delegates publishing authority and responsibility on Panther Portal to various departments andindividuals, as outlined in the “DistributedContent Management” addendum. Each teacher holds responsibility for maintaining a teacher page and one or more section pages on the Panther Portal.

Social Media sites

Lake Forest Country Day School maintains various Social Media sites for the purpose of marketing the school. The Communications Department is responsible for all content on social Media Web sites.
